Welcome to Manip Academy 2.0!

What is it about?

Manip Academy is about learning and sharing! Much like in a real school, the idea of this project is to teach you valuable Photoshop tricks on a regular basis.

Depth effect

When you create a scene and it has details in the background, it is very important you remember to keep the depth, in this way you will get a more realistic result. The details in the foreground will have more contrast in comparison to the details on the background, then the scene in the background will have less contrast, "a white or blurred appearance".

Look at some examples to better understand what I'm trying to explain:

Depth effect - tip

With the above examples you may understand better, a simple tip to remember is to keep the level of detail in the background low ( foggy look e.g .), this is a tip I've used in some of my works.
Create a clipping mask on the layer of the objects in the background, set layer mode to: Lighten or Screen or Luminosity ( with the predominant color in the scene ), for example: you are creating a scene at night with blue, then select a light blue color ( and vary the opacity for a better blend. )

I will show the process of manip below:

As you can seen, it is a very simple manipulation and I did not use advanced tools in Photoshop, it is super basic and easy, the intention is to show like it as a study of depth, shadow and light.

First pay attention to the light of the original stock and we will keep it.

Now add the stocks, and keep in mind the light spot of the original stock, the stock of the ruins and the sky, keep both in the same direction.

The details in the foreground, closer to the viewer, should have more contrast than the details in the background, further away from the viewer
